Sunday Greetings!

When we listen to Soul, we invite in the unconscious, our potential of all options not yet allowed to be seen: the part of ourselves waiting to have a place in daily life.

When we listen to Soul, we disturb and activate Ego, because Ego governs our conscious life of protecting patterns of compensation, habitual ways of being in the world, and necessary rules created to keep us safe from change.

When we make the commitment to intentionally listen to Soul, to fully accept and engage with an important dream or desire that for years, perhaps even decades, we've kept patiently waiting in the dark corner, Ego becomes extremely adept at stepping up resistance to allowing us to change, because after all, Ego is rooted in the belief that if we change too much, there will be the corresponding amount of annihilation to accompany the change. Ego's job is to protect and to shield us. Ego is all about maintaining the perceived reality of homeostasis, regardless if there is not cohesiveness or balance in our lives between Ego and Soul. Usually Soul wants our attention because Ego occupies most of the landscape, and the imbalance of power primes Soul to start seeping strongly and more overtly into daily life. Psyche/Soul already owns our nightly dreams.

To help adjudicate this process of back-and-forth tug of war(s) of wanting to stay-the-course of our Soul-project, and equally, of honoring our Ego (we don't want to punish Ego: it will only work harder/louder), I created a way to be in dialogue with our priorities and desires: with our Ego and Soul. Sometimes when we objectify and name what is important to, and of Ego and Soul, there is an immediate alliance, a thin bridge, a whiff of knowing, that coagulates in the liminal space, and we see our way home.

This is a simple form to organize the ephemeral moments of insight, as well as the lingering, ancient groans pushing material within us.

Don't intellectualize.

Feel the answers in your body.

On a daily basis, what is important for Ego?

On a daily basis, what is important for Soul?

Don't negotiate; don't compromise.

You are identifying the alchemical process of the tension of the opposites, a Jungian term where you know in your bones that the two polarities create a container for a third thing to emerge.

The third thing is your project.

Just try it.

Sending thoughts of Beauty, Love, and Imagination,

Brenda
